Announced by BlizzCon on 1st November 2019, World of Warcraft shadowlands is the eighth expansion of the game World of Warcraft. The 2020 release game is an online multiplayer online role-playing game that can play on both Microsoft Windows and macOS. The new expansion will have enabled access to shadowlands that is the realm of the dead in the previous game of Warcraft lore. Some of the added features apart from the level reduction include an overhauled levelling system and races’ Dead Knight class that one could not access. Other features are the covenants in the new zones plus additional raids and dungeons.

Gameplay and Features

The game has lower level caps like the level cap in the battle for Azeroth reducing from 120 to level 50 and level 60 as the level cap. The game starts at Exile’s reach where characters get introduced to the game and its systems. Players who finish the exile reach will continue to the Battle of Azeroth. After level 50, experienced players with the ability to create new characters have the advantage can decide the point they would like to start in the Shadowlands.

The shadowlands have five major zones of Bastion, Ardenweald, Maldraxxus, Revendreth, Mau and the City of Oribos in the middle. Oribos city is the central play hub just like Dalaran in the Wrath of Lich King or the Shattrah city in The Burning Crusade. The game also has an addition of for new levelling dungeons, another four at maximum level, the endless dungeon (Torghast) and the Tower of the Damned.

New Customizations

The added customization options include ethnic customization by humans, tattoos for dwarfs and trolls plus the undead showing different decay levels. The four zones of Shadowlands are ruled by covenants of Kyrian of Bastion, Venthyr of Revendreth, Night Fae of Ardenweald and Necrolords of Maldraxxus. Each of the four covenants has its campaign (Same as the war campaigns in the Battle for Azeroth). As a first time Shadowlands player, you must get to level 60 of the Shadowlands to choose the covenant to pledge to. Veterans can pledge to a covenant at the start of the Shadowlands content.
